Jiangsu and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Thursday. Xin Changxing, Provincial Party Secretary, and Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu, met with Chairman He Dongfeng and General Manager Zhou Xinmin of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd.

On behalf of the provincial Party committee and government, Xin Changxing and Xu Kunlin congratulated the C919 large passenger aircraft on successfully completing its first commercial flight and officially entering the civil aviation market. They also expressed their admiration for the important contributions made by COMAC to the development of China"s large aircraft industry.

Xin Changxing said that China"s own commercial aircraft production is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, carrying the national will, national dreams, and people"s expectations.

He remarked that the C919 large passenger aircraft has embarked on a new journey of market-oriented operation and industrial development, which is of great milestone significance in the history of Chinese aviation development and has also created new opportunities for the development of large aircraft and aviation industry.

The Provincial Party Chief said Jiangsu is focusing on promoting technological self-reliance and self-improvement, striving to build an industrial technology innovation center with global influence, and building a high-level manufacturing province.

Noting that the aviation industry is a strategic emerging industry in the country and a strategic high ground for competition in the high-end equipment manufacturing industry, Xin Changxing said Jiangsu has a relatively complete supporting system for the aviation industry, with numerous aviation related universities and rich talent resources, adding that the province has for many years maintained a good cooperative relationship with COMAC.

He hoped that both sides will face major national strategic needs, give full play to their respective advantages at a new starting point, jointly enhance industrial innovation capabilities, improve the industrial ecosystem, and promote high-quality development of the aviation industry.

He Dongfeng thanked Jiangsu for its strong support for the development of China"s own commercial aircraft and COMAC. He said that COMAC will further deepen its deep cooperation with Jiangsu"s aviation industry chain, innovation chain, and talent chain, gather more high-end resources, invest in more high-quality projects, and jointly strengthen the aviation industry so as to provide a strong engine for the province"s high-quality development and modernization construction.

According to the agreement, both parties will deepen cooperation in areas such as aviation industry cluster development, cultivation of large aircraft industry, aviation industry university research and application cooperation, introduction of domestic commercial aircraft market, and capacity building of key airborne systems for large aircraft.
